The Duval County School Board’s monthly meeting is at 6 p.m. today in the auditorium of the School Administation Building at 1701 Prudential Drive.

The meeting is open to the public and will be televised live on Comcast Cable Channel 99 and WJCT Digital Channel 7.4. WJCT TV-7 will air a tape-delayed broadcast at midnight.

Cutting Jacksonville’s budget could also pull the plug on television broadcasts of the City Council’s meetings.

Council President Stephen Joost has recommended ending the decades-old practice of airing meetings on local television in order to save about $158,000 yearly.

“Times have changed. The media is more digital,” Joost said. “People who still want to see it can log onto their computers and watch it over the Internet.”
